Boonville Girls Soccer squared up with PAC conference leaders Forest Park on Thursday night. The pioneers played some outstanding team soccer, holding the Rangers to limited opportunities throughout the game. To start the game, the attacking partnership of Morgan Poellein, Maya Cobb, Ellie Tieman, and Ava Kelley put the Rangers defense under immense pressure. Forest Park were clearly frustrated by the relentless press and organization of the Pioneer press. The teams battled throughout the first half, until the rangers scored from a corner kick. The pioneers held the rangers to 2 at the half. In the second half the team fought valiantly, but conceded 2 more, while narrowly missing several chances on the other end. This was, without question, the best total team performance of the season for the pioneers, thus far. The back line of Irie Squires, Addy Tuley, Hannah Barnhill, and Savannah Simpson were exceptional, aided by subs Kindel Virgin and Kayla Weiss. Gracey Franz and Nikki Snow were outstanding as the two defensive midfielders. And Molly Lockridge made more than 10 vital saves in front of goal. The team has so much to build on from this tough game. BHS soccer heads to Evansville on Saturday to take on the Central Bears.
