The girls soccer team had a long night after their game against Mt. Vernon was pushed back due to the severe heat and then extra time and a penalty shootout were needed to determine a winner. It was an exciting night, despite the fact that the wildcats emerged victorious. Haley Watson earned the credit for the first goal after she got on the end of a through ball that the goalie attempted to clear. Her effort led to a ricochet that ended up in the back of the net. After that, Mt. Vernon scored two goals, one from a penalty after a handball and the other from a scrambling mess inside the box. Despite the fact that they were down at the half, the pioneers wouldn't go out without a fight. In the second half BHS pushed more players forward, which finally paid off after Ellie Tieman got on the end of a pass and put the ball in the back of the net as cold as ice. Regular time ended in a 2-2 draw, so the game went to extra time. In extra time, no one could break the deadlock, so penalties were needed. After some excellent work by Hadley Hart in goal and some clutch penalties form Morgan, Ellie, and Lydia, the wildcats emerged victorious in the first round of sudden death. Ladies, keep your heads up! You are growing stronger as a team each and every day!
